EXHIBITION STATEMENT
Photos have the power to tell stories and the photographer has the power to make those stories readable. In this workshop, we explored the concept of storytelling through basic camera and editing skills. During the pandemic, many people used photos to capture the isolation and loneliness of quarantine. These students used photography and photojournalism to tell their own perspective stories.

We pulled inspiration from candid photographers like Theron Humphrey and Nora Lorek (Humphrey, Lorek). We also pulled inspiration from still life and abstract photographers like Marcus Rodriguez and Adam Senatori (Rodriguez, Senatori). These artists helped students understand different types of photos and the effects they have on the viewers.

Instead of being very hands on, the online environment pushed students to take the information learned in each session, and apply them to life outside of class, when they took their photos. The online format allowed us to share our photos easily and get feedback from everyone at the same time. The class was very online friendly, as we used mainly photoshop and lightroom to edit, and cameras to take the photos.

Our audience is college students and the University Community. We hope that our photos share our individual stories and share a little bit about the lives of each of the students and the stories that they want to tell.
Thank you to Eva King, Heather-Erin Bremenstuhl, Harold Burgess and Gabrielle Robinson-Tillenburg for their help and support during this course.
